CHARACTER ARTIST
TNG BRIDGE 3D ENVIRONMENT
This is my Environment Art project recreating the Enterprise-D's bridge from Star Trek: The Next Generation, which I delivered as a final cinematic, portfolio shots, and a progress gif. We had to choose a TV show/movie to recreate in a 3D scene, ideally a closed off room. I initially looked at Batman Forever, intending to recreate the Wayne Enterprises lab where Edward Nygma works - however I decided against it after looking at the scope, as it features a LOT of clutter. As a trekkie the decision to swap to recreating the TNG bridge was an easy one! A lot of the fun was found in rewatching episodes to discover details I had missed on the bridge. I have also linked my blog below which details my entire workflow from start to finish. I would easily say most of my time was spent on the shell of the structure and the chairs. Despite having few objects the complexity in them alongside the curves of the floor and walls made for a challenging project! I am overall very happy with what I achieved through this project, especially in terms of keeping true to the feeling of The Next Generation's bridge. I feel that it is very easily recognizable for fans especially in my recreation.
If I had to re-visit this project, I would map out the objects and structures more accurately, as I found that the references were very sporadic and didn't convey every detail of the structure. Furthermore I would love to have animated panels, I recreated the many of the panels digitally in procreate, but the panels I found from the show were intended to be animated like in the show. However due to Unreal troubles, my animated textures would not render. I am happy that I included a variety of the panels nonetheless.
