The Eleventh Week

On the eleventh week, I continued both my updating of meshes and applying materials. I began by texturing the captain's chair using my materials created in substance sampler, and added colour changes and extra details to reflect screenshots from the show itself. Adding details on the arms of the chair. I also added my new wood texture to my recreation of the battle station (using NURBs to get a cleaner curve).
I focused on adding detail to the doors, and created various alphas in procreate to apply in substance painter
I textured the different doors, and applied the alphas. I made the textures into smart materials for the final turbolift door.
In the cinematic, I planned to have the camera start in the Turbolift, and move through the opened doors. In maya, I created the two sides of the Turbolift door, and quickly animated them in the application to open and close. I experimented with different speeds, but I wanted to make sure that the doors were closed long enough for the cinematic before they opened. Then I took the mesh into Substance Painter to texture it using smart materials from the other doors, and a new material for the orange side visible in the Turbolift.
I also took the console mesh back into substance painter and applied my velvet texture to match the other objects in the scene.
